Her performances in Legally Blonde (2001 and its sequel 2003) as well as in Sweet Home Alabama (2002 ) earned her more recognition. She was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance as June Carter Cash in the musical biopic Walk the Line. She is on the board of the Children's Defense Fund and was named Global Ambassador of Avon Products in 2007. In this role, she also serves as chair honorary for Avon Foundation's charitable foundation that is dedicated to women's issues.
