Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football and volunteer work in the community. He is the youngest child of Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Semon. They raised him on the family farm near Eufala. Second football he was one of three brothers who were players for Oklahoma. All three were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey was an All-Star for the whole 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the most offensive lineman in the nation by the Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy as the starter. They also won the national title twice. The third scholarship was awarded to him. He was an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy's fourth volunteer service included ten hours per week as a volunteer in college. After graduation, Lee Roy settled in Tampa where he spent 9 years with the Buccaneers. 3 times, he was named an All-Pro. Lee Roy began his professional career. By 1988, he became an Account Relation Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy among the top ten outstanding young people across the nation. When he was a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and was weighing 256 pounds. He was captain of his college team in 1975. In 1993 he was appointed assistant director of the University of South Florida. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988, and the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 gave its Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor, who presented this award.
